UNDATED (WTVB) – Branch County’s track and field teams hit the ground running for their final tune-up before next Friday’s Regionals.
Shamrock Invitational at Berrien Springs
At the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Berrien Springs, Coldwater won the girls meet with a team score of 136.33 points, over ten points ahead of the host school. The Cardinal boys finished fourth with 71 points.
Ella Grabowski broke the school record in the long jump that she had set just ten days ago. Her jump of 17′ 8.5″ bettered the old record by a half-inch. She was also part of the winning 4×400 relay team. Grace Huff won the 800m and was on the winning 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams. Elli Foley was victorious in the shot put, and Brianna Barle won the adaptive 100m, adaptive 200m, and adaptive discus.
The Cardinal boys had no event winners, but the 4x800m relay team of Claudel Wischmeyer, Drew Vanderpuyl, Sebastian Ocampo, and Luke Aerts placed second.

Constantine Invitational
Both of Quincy’s teams finished second, while Bronson was seventh, at the Constantine Invitational. The Oriole boys finished with 95 points, 27.5 points behind the host school; the Vikings had 40 points. The Lady O’s had 133 points, finishing 13 points behind champion Schoolcraft, while Bronson had 33 points.
For the Quincy boys, Corey Turner broke the school record in the pole vault by clearing 14′ 4″. The old record of 14′ 3.5″ was set by Aaron Preston in 2004. Clayton Benson won both hurdle races, and Noah Rufenacht won the high jump and long jump. Bronson’s Brayden Fitz had a team-best finish of second in the discus.
Brookelyn Parker was a triple winner for the Quincy girls, taking first in both hurdle races and the 100m, while Ashlyn Fickle won the high jump. Miriam Sanchez won the 1600m for Bronson.

John Green Mendon Invitational
At the John Green Mendon Invitational, Union City won the girls meet with 153.5 points, 7.5 ahead of runner-up Centreville. The Charger boys finished second with 103 points, well back of first-place Centreville.
The Lady Chargers took three of the four relay races, while Kylie Creech won both hurdle races and Attica Hoath was first in the 200m. The Charger boys got wins from the 4×800 relay team, from Brady Anthony in the pole vault, and from Owen Kincaid in the long jump.

All of Branch County’s teams will run at MHSAA Regionals next Friday. Coldwater will return to Berrien Springs for a Division 2 Regional, while Bronson, Quincy, and Union City will be at the Division 3 East Jackson Regional.
